12 November 17 Match Report: Pinpoint League Cup. Cramlington Thundercats Under 13’s 3-2 North Sunderland Under 13’s

The 13’s travelled to Premier League opposition to face Cramlington Thundercats for the second time this season in the cup. On a bitterly cold day, North Sunderland were put under pressure from the start, but the well drilled defence of Adam Holland in goal, Sam Hall, James Wright, Jack Heston and Luke Thompson were able to frustrate the home side, ably supported by hard working midfield of Connor Johnstone, Jay Liddell, Tom Storey and Cameron Stitt. It looked as if it would be 0-0 going into the break but the nippy Cramlington winger scored twice in quick succession. It looked bleak for North Sunderland when they made it 3-0, however the team showed their recent good form was no fluke and they dug in and started to ask questions of the home side. The game changed when a Tom Storey free kick was brilliantly volloyed home by Robbie Swordy. Spurred on by this, Joe Mactaggart forced home a second from close range following sustained pressure and it was all the away side. They lost Adam Holland to injury but Luke Thompson showed he is no mean replacement with some excellent saves. Subs Dan Hall, Rory Davidson and Charlie Elliot all played their part in an exciting finish but they couldn’t find the equaliser. Another excellent performance from the U13s who gave the premier league side a real fright. All players again contributed and the spine of Tom Storey, Jay Liddell and James Wright all had impressive games but MOM was captain Sam Hall for another commanding game in defence. The lads then had a great time  trampolining at Airbox.
