Sunday 10 Nov 17 Match Report: Morpeth Thunder Under 13’s 1-4 North Sunderland Under 13’s

North Sunderland continued their recent good form with a comprehensive win against Morpeth in the Pinpoint Division 2. On the excellent Chantry pitch, the away side started well and played some controlled possession football throughout the team. The midfield of Tom Storey, Connor Johnston, Charlie Elliot and Cameron Stitt were running the game but couldn’t find the killer ball. It was the introduction of debutant Jake Wood that changed the game, He immediately linked well with Robbie Swordy and deservedly put NSFC 0-1 up. It remained that way until half time and the away side continued to be in the ascendancy in the second half. It was 0-2 when Robbie finished off a Jake Wood effort. There was a twist to the tale though when Morpeth were mysteriously awarded a penalty and it was 1-2. The away side then lost their discipline and Morpeth looked sure to equlaize but were denied by a fantastic Adam Holland save. The previously unruffled defence of Sam Hall, James Wright, Jack Heston and Luke Thompson were tested by the route one home side but this galvanised the visitors and they went 1-3 through a Tom Storey finish. They sealed the points when Robbie bagged his second. Rory Davidson, Joe Mactaggart and Jay Liddell all added fresh legs to the away side and they had time for Robbie to have a goal disallowed in the final minutes. Another step in the right direction for North Sunderland who are improving with every game. Jack Heston had his best game of the season alongside another outstanding display from Captain Sam Hall in defence but Man of the Match went to debutant Jake Wood who changed the game and looks a great addition to the squad.
